About Us

Established in 1997, RX Speech Therapy is proud to be the first speech therapy centre in Johor Bahru.

We offer comprehensive assessments and evidence-based therapy for preschool and school-aged children, up to 15 years old. Our mission is to empower the community to better support individuals with diverse needs. In addition to therapy services, we conduct training workshops for parents and teachers to build capacity and understanding.

At RX Speech Therapy, we recognise that every child is unique. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Our interventions are thoughtfully adapted and personalised to suit each child’s individual level and pace. Our approach is guided by the 5Cs: Comfort, Competency, Confidence, Control, and Communication—creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

We see children with communication disorders as follow,

  • Speech Sound Disorder
  • Childhood Apraxia of speech
  • Social Communication Disorder
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Fluency Disorder (Stuttering)

Tips for parents

Make the most of every moment to build language and social skills.

Share the moment

For a child to talk, he must have something to say, the opportunity to say it, and the encouragement and satisfaction to make the effort worthwhile.

Face to Face

One of the most important things we can do to communicate with our child is also one of the simplest:

Position ourselves so that our child can look directly into our eyes.

When we face to face, available and interested, you may find that :

  • We learn more about our children by being able to observe their facial expression, focus and alertness.

  • Our children learn more about us as they can see our mouth when we talk and watch our eyes to find out what we are looking at.

  • We talk with our children, not at our children. Being close together encourages more give and take of communication and puts us in a better position to allow child to lead.

Get connected
  • Bend our knees more
  • Get down on the floor
  • Lie on our tummy
  • Hold our child on our knees
  • Sit on the floor and give our child the chair.
